PPI Verified

PPI Verified is the gold standard in vehicle condition verification—trusted 3rd-party inspections that bring confidence and peace of mind to every transaction.

Our company ethos

At PPI Verified, we know that buying or selling a car can feel stressful—especially when trust and distance are involved. That’s why we created a platform built on one simple idea: confidence. We connect sellers with trusted mechanics to provide clear, detailed, independent inspection reports, so buyers can make decisions without the guesswork and sellers can reach more buyers with peace of mind. From classics to exotics, our goal is to make every transaction simple, safe, and transparent. Because at the end of the day, selling or buying a car should be exciting—not uncertain.

Born from experience

Our journey to starting PPI Verified came from our own experiences in the car world. Over the years, we’ve bought and sold many enthusiast cars, and we’ve felt the stress that comes with it—wondering if a seller was being upfront or struggling to find a mechanic we could trust across state lines. Those challenges made one thing clear: the used car market needed a better way to build trust between buyers and sellers. That realization sparked the idea for PPI Verified, a platform designed to take the uncertainty out of the process and replace it with confidence, clarity, and peace of mind.

Frequently asked questions

For Sellers
What is PPI Verified and how does it help me sell my vehicle?

PPI Verified is a trusted third-party platform that connects you with hand-selected, fully vetted mechanics to complete a comprehensive pre-purchase inspection (PPI). Once complete, you’ll receive a digital “PPI Verified” report and seal that you can share in your vehicle listing. This makes your car stand out, builds buyer confidence, and helps you sell faster—often at a higher price.

What makes PPI Verified different?

We hand-select only the best shops to perform Pre-Purchase Inspections. We physically visit every PPI Verified Partner shop to ensure they meet our standards and then hold them to the highest standard of customer service. Having a PPI Verified seal on your car listings means that your can has been fully inspected by a highly skilled technician and that your buyers can have confidence that the car they are buying has been accurately represented.

Why can't I just have an inspection done by my mechanic or dealership?

You absolutely can—but the difference is in buyer trust and credibility. A report from your mechanic or dealership can appear biased, even if it’s 100% accurate. Buyers often wonder, “Is this really independent?” PPI Verified solves that problem. Every inspection is done by a certified, third-party mechanic in our vetted network, and the report is branded with the PPI Verified seal. That independent verification gives buyers the confidence they need to move forward quickly, especially if they’re out of state. In short, it’s not just an inspection—it’s a trust signal that helps you sell faster and for more money.

Why should I get my vehicle inspected before listing it for sale?

Most buyers are hesitant to buy without knowing a car’s true condition. By proactively verifying your vehicle’s condition, you eliminate uncertainty and objections. This attracts serious buyers nationwide, reduces time-wasters, and positions your listing as more trustworthy than others.

What does the inspection include?

Our partner mechanics check the entire vehicle—including the exterior, interior, engine bay, tires, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and more. They provide detailed notes, photos, videos and condition ratings. Optionally, they can perform diagnostics such as compression or leak-down tests, paint thickness measurements and a variety of other specialty inspections depending on the vehicle.

Who performs the inspections?

All inspections are completed by certified, vetted mechanics with automotive expertise. PPI Verified’s network ensures consistency, professionalism, and independence—you and the buyer can trust the results.

How do I share my report with potential buyers?

After the inspection, you’ll receive a digital vehicle profile and shareable PPI Verified link. You can post this directly in your online listings (Bring a Trailer, Hagerty, Cars & Bids, Facebook Marketplace, Autotrader, etc.) or send it to interested buyers. It’s a powerful trust signal.

Can buyers use the report to negotiate against me?

Not usually. A verified report actually reduces back-and-forth negotiations by eliminating surprises. Buyers see exactly what they’re getting, which helps justify your asking price. Many sellers use the report to demonstrate transparency and stand firm on value.

Does PPI Verified help with out-of-state buyers?

Yes. Our platform is built to make nationwide transactions safe and simple. In addition to verified reports, we integrate with escrow, shipping, and warranty services—so remote buyers can move forward with confidence.

What if the inspection finds issues with my car?

Transparency is key. Many buyers expect used cars to have minor issues. If repairs are needed, you can either fix them (and update the report) or disclose them upfront. Either way, your honesty builds trust and keeps deals from falling apart later.

How quickly can I get my car inspected?

Most inspections can be scheduled within 48–72 hours, depending on mechanic availability in your area. Once complete, the report is uploaded digitally for immediate sharing. Our staff will coordinate the scheduling for you.

Does PPI Verified work with dealerships too?

Yes! We help all sellers make their cars stand out. Dealerships also use PPI Verified to pre-certify vehicles, attract more buyers, and speed up their sales process.

For Buyers
What is PPI Verified?

PPI Verified is a platform that connects sellers, buyers, and hand-picked mechanics to provide an independent pre-purchase inspection (PPI). Our verified reports give you the confidence to buy a car—whether it’s across town or across the country—without worrying about hidden issues.

Why should I trust a PPI Verified report?

Because every inspection is done by a certified, independent, third-party mechanic from our vetted network. Sellers don’t choose the mechanic, and mechanics don’t work for the seller. The result is an independent, impartial report you can rely on.

Can I order an inspection myself?

Yes. While our goal is for sellers to proactively verify their cars with PPI Verified, buyers can also request and pay for an inspection directly through our platform if one hasn’t already been completed. This is assuming the Seller is willing to participate in the process.

How do I know the report is authentic?

Every verified inspection comes with a unique PPI Verified digital profile and seal. Reports can only be issued through our platform and are tamper-proof, so you can be confident they haven’t been altered.

What if the report shows problems?

Most used cars have some wear or issues. The benefit of a PPI Verified report is that you know about them upfront. You can use the information to negotiate fairly, budget for repairs, or walk away before wasting time and money.

How does PPI Verified help with out-of-state purchases?

Our system is designed for nationwide transactions. In addition to verified reports, we integrate with escrow services, shipping providers, and warranty partners—so you can safely buy a car from anywhere in the U.S. with complete peace of mind.

What kinds of cars can be inspected?

While we are happy to inspect anything, our services are best suited for enthusiast cars, vintage classics and high-end exotics, sports cars or luxury vehicles. Our nationwide network of certified mechanics is experienced across a wide range of makes and models.

Do dealers use PPI Verified too?

Yes. Many dealerships use PPI Verified to pre-certify their vehicles, but our biggest impact is for private sellers—helping them give you the same confidence you’d expect from a dealer purchase.

How quickly can I see a report?

If the inspection has already been completed, you’ll have instant access to the report through the seller’s PPI Verified link. If you order one yourself, inspections are usually scheduled within 48–72 hours.

Does PPI Verified guarantee the condition of the vehicle?

No—PPI Verified provides a detailed, independent condition report, but we do not guarantee or warranty the vehicle itself. Our role is to give you the most accurate snapshot possible at the time of inspection, performed by a certified third-party mechanic.

The PPI Verified seal means a vehicle has been independently inspected by a PPI Verified trusted professional using our comprehensive checklist. It confirms the vehicle’s true condition has been documented and verified — giving buyers confidence and sellers credibility.
